  • Use of microalgae for toxicity testing of environmental toxicants such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals and heavy metals.
  • High-value products and bioactive compounds from microalgae.
  • Use of microalgae for biodiesel production.
  • Use of microalgae for bioremediation.
  • Effects of global warming and UV radiation stress on Antarctic, tropical and temperate microalgae.
  • Airborne algae and building-related illnesses.
  • Molecular phylogenetics of microalgae.
